Stallion (uncastrated male horse)

Besthorpe Achilles 8961 is our senior Suffolk Horse stallion. He is 19 years old. Originally bought by a generous sponsor, he was later donated to the Trust.

Besthorpe Achilles is widely regarded as one of the best Suffolk Horse stallions of his generation, being very true to the
Suffolk Horse Breed Standard.

His very successful show career, includes winning the Suffolk Horse Champion Stallion titles at Woodbridge Horse Shows, Suffolk Shows and Royal Norfolk Shows. For 2 consecutive years (2013, 2014) he won the Supreme Champion Suffolk Horse title at the Suffolk Horse Spectacular.

He has sired over 40 foals, for the Trust and other Suffolk Horse owners. His grandson, Colony Eli 9186, is the current
Supreme Champion Suffolk Horse (2023). Although retired from showing, Besthorpe Achilles still has a key role in the Trust’s
breeding programme, which increasingly uses Artificial Insemination (AI).

Achilles is part of the Breeding Programme.
